Merging care and craft— Digital fabrication with a personal edge
The Bastian Knife is a deeply personal project exploring the idea of “leaving a mark”—both literally and figuratively. Designed as a symbolic marking tool, it pays tribute to my mum, a chef, who taught me the importance of self-reliance through cooking. A knife, always present in our kitchen, became a natural extension of my hand and a metaphor for her lasting influence.
Visually, the piece draws from my passion for jewellery, tribal art, calligraphy, gothic and abstract forms, and stained glass. Inspired by the ornate detailing of Chrome Hearts, the knife blends decorative and functional qualities—balancing precision with sculptural presence.
The Bastian Knife is less a tool and more a personal emblem—fusing heritage, craft, and identity into one object.
